Anxious ... to the way of telling the story, because everytime it seemed simple (it actually is) there're more hidden, detailed things to tell. Maybe to reach deeper meanings or simply to form the funniest lines. Sometimes to reach some points, like relationships, generations, people in general and life itself. How it's complicated & simple .. but mostly it's inbetween.
I'm not used to this, but certainly I become fond of this style. Surely, I'll read more of Fredrik Backman ... and hopefully I can carry this spirit to different worlds.

"Parents are defined by their mistakes."
This was the first dark side in Anxious People .. a pretty good and absolutely unimaginable, words will be stuck in your mind forever, like you actually lived it. And other moments where what we think is totally the opposite, we often think of things as if they were simply right or wrong, black or white .. it's easy to process. But we really forget to imagine how complicated life is, we forget that it's random & harsh in ways we couldn't possibly understand.
"... and it's as if all your best moments never happened."
.................
"You can't protect your kids from life, life gets us all in the end."
Is that really true? .. yes, it is. And it's one of the rules in life, but we don't like to think of it like that. We keep our thoughts positive, but bad things happen, it's like "it is what it is" but here this point were in the spot many times, in hidden ways at least. And some questions are without answers, the process is the only answer, the experience .. living!

- "I shouldn't have got involved ..."
- "It's okay, Dad"
"Neither of them means it. We lie to those we love." .. Just a pure (father & son) moments, words will never give any of them the proper appreciation. It was one of the main stories, beautifully structured & amazingly done. We go back and forth in a pure relationship, filled with struggles, real ones. In the total picture, this was more than ...

"What makes a teenager stop wanting to be alive? .. it's just hurts so much at times, being human. Not understanding yourself, not liking the body you're stuck with in. Seeing your eyes in the mirror and wondering whose they are, always with the same question: "what's wrong with me? Why do I feel like this?"
This .. god, I mean how could I say anything? But, this was one of the many (Anxious) aspects, and almost in every one of them, it's incredibly amazing, wise ways in a shape to fit in the story.

"Green Curtains? Who on earth has green curtains? Honestly, the things people do these days. But maybe they're color-blind. Or Irish."
Creative lines, funny & smart, this is one of millions.
"She says I'm so positive that it makes people depressed. That I always think the glass is half full when there's just enough to drown yourself in"
But I have to say, enduring the conversations is must be some kind of a test, because some little annoying moments are pretty funny but provocative, it's hard to explain .. brilliant!

"When you're a child you long to be an adult and decide everything for yourself, but when you're an adult you realize that's the worst part of it. That you have to have opinions all the time."
One of the most shocking moments, when you realize for the first time you actually could do anything, no .. I mean ANYTHING you want. And every action .. will backfire on you, and only you. And here? We ultimately can see the cost of actions & decisions with a bench of adults, or idiots.

Anxious People .. true humor, true words & hearts.
A father & a son, marriage & children, life & death, depression & darkness, strange story with little surprises. Magnificent!
"We can't change the world, and a lot of the time we can't even change people. No more than one bit at a time. So we do what we can to help whenever the chance, sweetheart. We save those we can. We do our best. Then we get try to find a way to convince ourselves that will just have to... be enough. So we can live with our failures without drowning."
